Family Law Attorney | Law Office of Bryan Fagan, PLLC – San Antonio

Sydney Serrata practices family law at the Law Office of Bryan Fagan, PLLC’s San Antonio office, where she has deep roots and an equally deep commitment to the clients she serves. Licensed since 2020, Sydney has been working in family law for over eight years — and her practice reflects both the breadth of experience she has built and the personal values that brought her to the law in the first place.

Education & Career

Sydney earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Sam Houston State University in 2016 and went on to complete a Master of Arts in International Relations at St. Mary’s University in 2018, before earning her Juris Doctor from St. Mary’s University School of Law in She returned home to San Antonio for law school and has been practicing there ever since. Her appellate experience includes filing appeals and establishing precedent within the Fourth Court of Appeals — a distinction that reflects both the depth of her legal work and her willingness to take cases as far as they need to go.

Why She Practices Family Law

Sydney didn’t always plan to be a lawyer. It was a professor at Sam Houston who pulled her aside during her final year and told her, plainly, that she would make a wonderful attorney. That conversation changed everything. Sydney reflects on it often — not just because it redirected her life, but because it serves as a daily reminder that even the smallest positive act can leave a lasting mark on someone. She carries that awareness into every interaction with her clients. She wanted to help others, and family law gave her a place where that help is real, immediate, and profoundly meaningful.

Her Approach

Sydney is compassionate, loyal, resilient, and deeply supportive — words her friends use to describe her, and words that translate directly into how she practices law. She believes family law is about more than outcomes: it is about promoting stability for children and families, empowering clients through education, and meeting people with genuine empathy during some of the hardest chapters of their lives. She advocates for mental health awareness and animal welfare as well, and those values inform the way she treats everyone who walks through her door.

Personal

Born and raised in San Antonio, Sydney is married to her husband Brandon. They share their home with two dogs: Ember, a pit bull/red heeler/mix rescue, and Ash, a six-month-old blue heeler puppy who is deaf — a situation that inspired Sydney to begin learning American Sign Language to better communicate with him. She enjoys outdoor activities, particularly trips to the beach, along with cooking, fishing, needlepoint, and game nights with family and friends. She also holds a motorcycle license. Her dream travel destination is Sydney, Australia — a city she was named after, thanks to a newspaper article and her father’s love of the Great Barrier Reef.
